Zelma Mae Short

March 1, 1928 — April 5, 2021

Zelma Mae Short, age 93, of Dayton, passed away on April 5, 2021, at her home. She was born in Richmond, Kentucky, on March 1, 1928, the daughter of the late Lenzie and Clara Lowery.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Orvel Short; son, Gene Short; daughter, Brenda Cox; several brothers and sisters.

Zelma is survived by her loving son, Gary Short; grandchildren, Chuck Short, Ron Short, Greg Short, Jason Short, Levi Short, Shayna Seippel, Willie Cox, Jr., Steven Cox, Shannon Cox and Mark Cox; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Nelson and Mabel; and many other loving family and friends.

She was a member of Valley Street Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, spending time with her family, singing and reading her Bible. Zelma was a true woman of God, her faith was very important to her. She adored her family and will be greatly missed by them.

Due to COVID concerns, there will only be a walk-thru Visitation held from 11:00am-1:00pm, on Monday, April 12, 2021, at Valley Street Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2605 Valley Street, Dayton. Graveside Services will follow the Visitation at Willow View Cemetery.
