Yao Nem, age 78 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, April 7,2024 at 0620. He was born June 3,1945 in Cambodia, the son of Ean and Oung Rive.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Ean Nem, Mother, Oung Rive, and Eldest Daughter.
Yao is survived by his wife, Van Monee; two daughters, Sombath and Linda; grandchildren, Chrisilin, Tywan, Maley, Rainsey, and Christgyn. He is also survived by numerous family and friends.
He loved the great outdoors. Yao enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, and corn hole. He was kind, gentle, patient and strong. Yao was one of many that was able to escape the horrific torture, slavery, and starvation known as the Khmer Rouge that took place in Cambodia during 1975 and ended in 1979 where 1.5 to 2 million people were ended. It wasn't until November of 2023 he was reunited with his extended family and friends in his hometown. He is loved by many and will continue to be missed. The family hopes those who would like to honor him will find a quiet time to remember who he was in your life and be thankful for the time you had together.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home-Kettering Chapel, 3940 S. Kettering Blvd. Kettering, OH 45439. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, PROMPTLY following Cremation rituals at 10:00 am, everyone is welcome to attend.
