Winston Jerome Clay

Winston Jerome Clay, age 81 of Dayton, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born May 25, 1941 in Gary, Indiana the son of Leslie and Lillian (McDaniel) Clay.

Winston was a loving husband and a wonderful father to his children. He served his country in Vietnam while in the Army and later joined the Air Force from which he retired after 20 years. He was a Sunday School Teacher, an Usher, a Deacon and played congos during the worship service for New Life Fellowship. He formed the Dayton Gem City Jumpers, an organization which provided a place for inner city children to learn jump rope skills as well as developing life skills. He was also a member of the Sons of God Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and sharing his wealth of knowledge and wisdom to encourage and mentor others.

He was a very humble, kind and out going person who never met a stranger. Winston's faith was most important to him and he was passionate about sharing the love and grace of Jesus Christ with others.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Aggenora Clay and her mother, Ruth Johnson and step father, David Robinson, who raised him from his youth.

Winston is survived by his wife of 25 years, Pamela; children, Daniel (Trena) Nunn, Winston (Ginger) Clay, Michele (Timothy Cordell) Caldwell, Kliss Caalim and Leah Clay; mother of his children, Dorothy Clay; grandchildren, Ethan (Emma) Clay, David (Shelby) Clay, Elisha Moriya, Alexandria Caldwell, Catalino (Emma) Caalim, Castalia (Michael Marquis Miller) Caalim, Jerome Clay, Jude-el Clay, Kingston Bailey and Iolana Bryan; great grandchildren, Mika Moriya and Olive Clay; sister, Yolanda Berry; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Gurklies and Belinda Farrier; his extended McDaniel, Robinson and Ward families; best friend and military brother, Herman Freeman and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Winston's honor.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a Celebration of Life at 3:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). The family asks that you wear your favorite cowboy hat, cowboy boots or his favorite color purple in honor of Winston.
