Wilson Williams

November 26, 1933 — December 6, 2023

Wilson Williams arrived into this earthly life on November 26, 1933, as the oldest of ten children born to the late Willie and Otralia Williams in Sunflower County, Mississippi. He departed to spend eternity with the Lord on December 6, 2023.

Wilson accepted Christ as his savior at an early age and united with the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Steiner, Mississippi. He moved to Chicago in 1949 and met his future bride in 1956. Wilson joined in holy matrimony with Lillie Bell Randle on December 21, 1956. To their union two children were born, Archyne and Wayne.

When he and Bell relocated to Trotwood, Wilson chose to rectify years of being outside a church fellowship. He decided to fully rededicate his life to the Lord in 1986 and joined St. Timothy Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton, OH, under the leadership of Reverend Alonzo Looney. He was ordained as a Deacon at St. Timothy in 1990 and taught Sunday School there for many years. Wilson remained a dedicated and faithful member until his health prevented him from doing so.

He wore many hats for many people during the course of his ninety years. He was husband, parent, psychologist, disciplinarian to some and spoiler of others. In each of those roles, he was a straight shooter with a no-nonsense approach but he remained a trusted advisor. It was impossible to misunderstand when he meant business because he meant what he said and said what he meant. He was one of the most outgoing, engaging, welcoming, friendly people anyone could meet. He literally never met a stranger. The bottom line is that Wilson was a good man who was true to his word. He never stopped sharing the blessings the Lord had bestowed upon him and he'd give someone the shirt off his back - even if it meant he had to be cold.

Wilson was predeceased by both parents; his daughter, Denise Carr; his siblings, Willie Williams, Jr., John Williams, Annie Bell Williams, Charles Williams, Richard Williams, Jesse Williams and Zeria Crump. He leaves to honor his life and legacy: His beloved wife of nearly 67 years, Lillie Bell (Randle) Williams. He also leaves his children - Vera Gibson, Gloria Pope, Herbert Williams (Jacqueline); Donald Bynum (Eolene); Archyne Woodard (Joe); Wayne Williams (Melanie); his 15 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren; his sister, Mable Williams and a host of loving in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
