Wilma J. Johnson

Wilma Joyce Johnson, age 83 of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 19, 2025. She was born July 3, 1941 in Buchanan County, Virginia daughter of the late Frank and Maudie Ball. 

Wilma was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed helping those around her in need often supporting different organizations, especially the disabled veterans. She had a passion for taking walks, and gardening. Wilma loved cooking her southern style, Appalachian Mountain, southern foods, having family gatherings, and spending time with her significant other, Ernie who was loved by all. She was a faithful member of the Memorial United Church of Christ. She will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by the father of her children, Woodrow Johnson; brothers, Nedium Ball, Frank Ball, Freeman "Bob" Ball; sisters, Juanita Presley, Faye Murphy, and Betty Sue Boyd; and her beloved pets, Coco and Smokey.

Wilma is survived by her significant other, Ernie Johnson; children, Patty (Scott) Mayer, Randall (Rhonda) Johnson, Pauline Judy, and Michael (Lisa) Johnson; former son-n-laws, Big John and Jay Judy; grandchildren, Mandy (Ben), Randy Jr. (Leah), Jonathan Paul (Katelynn), Heather (Zach), Ashley, Mikey Jr, and Hannah; 17 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; friend of the family, someone who mom viewed as a son, Stevie Purdue; as well as several other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 9-10am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A funeral service will begin at 10am at the funeral home with nephew, Robert "Bob" Blenins officiating. Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery.
