Wilma Helen Wittrock Baker

January 31, 1948 — March 5, 2024

Wilma Helen Wittrock Baker, age 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 25, 2024. Born January 31, 1948, to the late Helen M. and William B. Wittrock, she grew up at Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina and Wrightsville Beach, graduated from New Hanover High School, and attended UNCW and ECU.

After college, Wilma served as a Word Over the World ambassador for a Christian ministry, The Way International, followed by 2 years in a Biblical Studies Program in New Knoxville OH. She then moved to Milwaukee WI where she met and later married her husband, Francis S. Baker in 1979. Following 10 years of service on the ministry staff in OH, she and Frank moved to Raleigh NC where they resided for over 20 years before returning to the Dayton, OH area.

Wilma will be remembered as a joyful person who always had a smile on her face and a good word for everyone she met. She was never one to complain, was always gracious to others, loved Wrightsville Beach and was a forever Beatles fan. Wilma is survived by her husband of 44 years, Frank, and her two beloved cats, Gabe and Scooter, who she talked about incessantly. Also surviving are her brother, Oscar (Jana) of Cameron Park CA , her sister, Etta Pace (Robert) of Wilmington NC, her sister-in-law, Ashley Nugent of Kansas City MO, and numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

Though the sting of her death will take time to heal in those who survive her, we take comfort in knowing that she was a Daughter of God, and we will see her again when the Lord returns to gather His Church.

A Celebration of Life service will be scheduled later this year.
