William J. Zechar "Bill", age 79 of West Carrollton, OH, passed away July 13, 2023. He was born on January 16, 1944 in Dayton to the late John and Janet (Baichly) Lawson. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Zechar; his sisters, Betsy Wagenknecht and Jean (John) Black.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Chad Zechar; daughter, Audra (Brandon) Pyle; step-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966 aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War. Following his military stint, Bill went on to own numerous businesses in the Dayton area. He became a self-employed truck driver most of his working career. Bill loved following motor sports and rooting for the Bengals, and enjoyed cooking and baking for his family.
A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Hammond Memorial VFW Post 3438 from 4-8 pm. Inurnment with military honors at Dayton National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
