William Thomas Hopwood, 80, of Dayton, passed away June 5, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 27, 1933 in Patterson, NJ, the son of the late Harry R. and Lillie (Sheffield) Hopwood.
He was a 1953 graduate of Roosevelt High School. Bill was a 50 year member of Huber Heights First Baptist Church. He served in various positions.
He enjoyed deep sea fishing with his family and spending time with his grandkids and great grandchildren. He worked for Fidelity Prescriptions for 35 years and Miami Luken for 10 years. Bill was the owner of Med-Care Convalescent Supply and Med-Care Home Health Care, Inc. He was the largest independent supplier of medical supplies to nursing facilities in Southwestern Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Raymond H. Hopwood.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Vulgamore) Hopwood; children, Susanne F. (David) Britton, William Alan Hopwood, John C. (Jacqueline) Hopwood; grandchildren, Meghan K. (Eric) Zeile, Kyle L. (Kristin) Hopwood, Natalie S. (Ben) Livingston, Miranda J. Hopwood, Caitlin J. Britton, Vanessa M. Hopwood; great grandchildren, Ayrton A. Zeile, Zaydee K. Zeile, Dominic A. Yeakley, Kinley R. Hopwood; and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Monday June, 9, 2014 at Huber Heights First Baptist Church, 5875 Shull Rd, Huber Heights.
Funeral Services will be held, 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, 45424, with Pastor Robert Hooker Officiating. Burial at Glen Haven Memorial Park, New Carlisle.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, if desired.
