SPRAUER, William A. Sr. age 76, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the VA Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Elsie (Lair) Sprauer for 50 years; proud father to daughter, Maria and husband Ron Bechtold, and son, William Jr. and wife Kristin; proud grandfather to Jacob, Jenna, Jerrica, and James Erwin, Abigail and Nicholas Sprauer. He is also survived by his brother, Charlie and wife Nancy Sprauer; sisters, Eilene and husband Ray Houser, Marie Shanesy, and Louise and husband Bernie Hausfeld; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Margaret Sprauer; brothers, Roland and Joseph Sprauer; sister, Margaret Jutte; and beloved four legged companion, Lady. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, a devout Catholic, member of the DAV and former volunteer at SICSA. His kind spirit and beautiful blue eyes will be forever remembered. The family will receive friends from 2-4PM Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Dr. with Fr. Butler and Fr. Worland officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association and the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
