William Kroger

KROGER, William Henry, age 87, of Dayton, passed away peacefully to our Lord Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born in Dayton, OH, April 23, 1917 to Joseph and Katherine (Hirsch) Kroger. He was a graduate of Chaminade High School and the University of Dayton, class of 1939. He served in the Calvary Division of the Army during World War II. He was a co-owner of the Standard Seed Company until he retired in 1974. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary; one daughter, Teresa Stang and husband Mike; two sons, Karl and his wife Vicki, and Paul and his wife Tanya; nine grandchildren, Cathy Stang, Debi (Jim) Davis, Tom Stang, Bill Kroger, Elizabeth (Jason) Stammen, Charlie (Linda) Kroger, Philip, John and Mark Kroger; two great-granddaughters, Natalie Kroger and Kasey Stammen; one sister, Sr. Laurita (Ruth), and 2 brothers, Ben and Paul. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Herman, Joseph, and Claude and 2 sisters, Margaret and Katherine. Bill was the best husband, father, and brother anyone could ask for and will be greatly missed by all. He was loved for his big heart, gentleness, good spirit, and sense of humor. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 19, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (4104 Needmore Rd.). Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Catholic Church (149 Franklin St., Dayton) with Father Charles Bergedick Celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. If desired, in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Vincent DePaul or the Salvation Army.
