William Joseph King, Sr., "Bill", age 77, of Harrison Twp., passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021. Bill was born December 23, 1943 to Richard C. King and Ruth Davis.
Dedicated to serving his community, he volunteered 25 years of his life as Captain for Mad River Twp. Fire Department. In addition to firefighting, Bill joined on at Delco Moraine, where he worked on the assembly line until his retirement in 2005.
A lover of the outdoors, he could often be found tending to his lawn and garden. Bill was a devoted family man, caring for his first wife through her battle with cancer. He loved his children deeply, and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He lived out the last 23 years of his life with his second wife, Dorothy King, by his side.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Elizabeth Ann King; three brothers, Jim, Rick, and Danny King.
He is survived by second wife Dorothy King; children Jan (Robert) Topiah, Sherry (Greg) West, and William (Diane) King, Jr.; step-children, Kelly (Larry) Brown, Cassy Kuhlman, and Heather (Scott) Mitchell; grandchildren, Jennifer (Cory) Barlow, Mary Ann (Cameron Gray) Brewer, and Robert Topiah III; step-grandchildren, Kyle, Sabrina, and Anthony West, Aaron and Alex Elam, and Elijah and Lily Mitchell; granddogs, Goldie and Daisy; great-grandchildren Antonio Gray, Michael Gray, and Elliot Barlow; and seven step-great grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Don) Warner; niece and nephew, Lori and D.J. Warner, and numerous other family members and loved ones.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton. Family will greet friends Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial David's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, PO Drawer 498, Emmitsburg, MD 21727. Firefighters never die. They burn forever in the hearts of people whose lives they saved.
