William Edward King

William Edward King (Bill), Age 92 of Dayton, OH passed away peacefully on February 23, 2022 in Lebanon, OH. Bill was born on February 3, 1930 in Windsor, Ontario.

Bill is survived by his five children and their spouses (Barbara (King) & Derrick Ward, William King Jr, Robert King & Julie Crouch, Kimberly (King) Miller, Paul King & Robin Pacey); nine grandchildren and their spouses, (Michael & Amy Ward, Stefanie (Ward) & Scott MacPherson, Sarah King, Jonathan King, Bethany (King) & Luke Conley, Brianne King, Nicole (Miller) Stroop, Alexis Miller, Michael Blake & Courtney (England) King); seven great-grandchildren (William & Emily MacPherson, Layla King, Griffin, Lincoln & Franklin Conley, Eve Stroop); sister in law Carol Williams and brother in law/wife Thomas & Susan Williams. Bill is also survived by numerous family and friends.

Bill was a diehard Canadian who brought his love of hockey to the Dayton area when he and his beloved wife Vida moved to the states in 1968 for an opportunity to open and manage the Simon Dechatlet lab. He continued to manage the lab until his retirement in 1995. Bill had a big influence on the Dayton hockey community as a player, referee, and coach. He coached all three of his sons and helped start Dayton's Huff & Puff league.

Bill and Vida loved to spend their summers with their children and close friends at Three Mile Lake in the Muskokas. There was nothing he liked better than fishing, bonfires and a good CC & water by the lake. In his later years Bill was somewhat of a celebrity in the West Carollton area as a regular at Bravo and Bonefish Grille during the weekends. His appearance was much anticipated at both establishments and enjoyed thoroughly by Bill as well as the staff and anyone who happened to be nearby. Bill is loved by many and will be honored and remembered for generations to come.

Visitation will be held from 4 - 6 pm on Saturday March 5th at Newcomer Funeral Home-South Chapel located at 3940 Kettering Blvd. Kettering, Ohio 45439. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 6 pm in the South Chapel.
