William W. (Bill) Goff, age 70 years, of Springfield, Ohio passed away Wednesday, April 27 at the Springfield Regional Medical Center.
He was a graduate of Greenon High class of 1958, and served in the United States Marine Corps. Bill studied art at San Diego State University and Wittenberg University, and graduated Valedictorian of Dayton Art Institute in 1968 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking. He was a member of the Beavercreek and New Carlisle Church of the Brethren, and retired from Navistar truck and engine plant in 1998. Known for his kind and loving spirit, he and his wife, Brenda, opened their home to countless friends and youth.
Bill was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren, an avid fisherman, and an accomplished artist who worked in a variety of media: printmaking, painting, sculpturing, and others. He was the recipient of several national prizes for his work and generously donated his talents to many groups including the Brethren Church, Heifer Project, Ohio Performing Arts Institute, and the Springfield Peace Center. He was a founder of the local arts group Society Of Fine Artists and held many successful one-man shows at galleries across the state. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Mildred Goff and his sister Vilma Treolo, all of Springfield.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Brenda S. Goff of New Carlisle; three children, Nathan Goff of Belmont, Rachel Goff of Cedarville, and Rebekah (Goff) Fox of Dayton; his sister Shirley (Joseph) Fugate of Springfield; three grandchildren, Bethany Goff of Donnelsville, Ian Hawkins and Tegan Hays of Cedarville; and countless others whom he loved greatly.
Funerary arrangements have been made through Newcomer Funeral Home, with services to be held on Saturday, April 29 at Beavercreek Church of the Brethren, 2659 Dayton-Xenia Road. Family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00, with memorial service to be held immediately following at 2:00 pm with Rosella Combs and Andrew Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Forest Cemetery in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
