William B. George "Bernie"

William B. George, "Bernie," age 87 of Dayton, OH, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at The Wellington at Dayton. He was born February 22, 1936 in Matewan, West Virginia, the son of the late John and Laura Copley.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Bill worked in the gravure printing industry. Upon retirement, he enjoyed employment as a driver for various local businesses. As a young man, Bill spent time hunting, fishing and playing poker with his family. In his retirement, he enjoyed time at the cabin with his brother and nephew. He enjoyed country and bluegrass music. He loved animals, caring for cats and dogs and feeding the birds. He was a gifted gardener.
Bernie is survived by his daughters, Sherry George (Michael) Sivo and Carrie Jo Schepers; grandchildren, Michelle Hunter (Steve) Wagner, Jacob Sivo, and Alana Sivo; brothers, Tim (Jennie) Copley and John Copley; sisters, Joann (Joby) Smith, Alice Adams, Anna Kokoski, and Una (Hugh) Goldie; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Terry C. George; and sisters, Mary Baker and Sue Hall.
With deep gratitude, his family wishes to thank nephews, Jim Sheppard and Jobyson Smith, for their generous love and assistance. They also thank the caring teams at The Wellington of Dayton and Day City Hospice.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 9:00 am at Dayton National Cemetery (4400 W. Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428).
