William Ross Gardner

April 22, 1936 — April 13, 2018

William Ross Gardner (Bill) age 81 of Dayton, Ohio passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the VA Hospice of Dayton.

He was born in Dayton, graduated from Wilbur Wright High School and attended Miami University. Bill served in the Marine Corp during the Korean War & also 6 more years in the reserves. His work history included Stop & Go Corporate office in Englewood, owner of the Oregon Express and later years in Dallas Texas as Vice President of Development for Douglass Distributing (oil & gas).

Bill was a devoted and loving husband who enjoyed reading and learning about military conflicts and the history of our great country. He enjoyed traveling, both in the States and Europe, and loved to drive his motor home all over to our National Parks with his wife & traveling companion of 35 years, Diana.

Bill had many nicknames throughout the years, starting with "Cowboy" to his coworkers at Stop N Go, due to his habit of always wearing cowboy boots. Also known as "Mr. Bill" to his employees at the Oregon Express and affectionately called "Boss" or "Grandpa Boss" by his many grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Tracy. Survivors include his spouse, Diana, his daughters Gigi Gardner and Gina Walther, and son Gregory Neyman, sister Patricia of Rockwall Texas as well as nieces and nephews, and 10 grandchildren.

Donations in his memory may be sent to VA Hospice of Dayton or Hospice of Dayton on Wilmington Ave.
