SCHMIDT, William (Bill) G., age 64, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday June 22, 2011 at Kettering Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born January 28, 1947 in Dayton, OH, the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Schmidt of Parkston, SD.
He was Quartermaster at VFW Post 9582 in Vandalia, OH. He was a member of Amvets, American Legion, 40/8. He retired from GM in 1995 and served in the Army during Vietnam 1966-67. He was a member of the Dayton Legends Senior Softball Team and Cuny-Zink Senior Softball League in Dayton.
Bill was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond and Edward Schmidt. Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carol Schmidt; daughters, Wendy Asztalos (Eric) and Amanda Nolan (Mike); 4 grandchildren, Nathan, Sarah, Jacob and Zack; numerous relatives and friends.
Pastor Robert Hooker officiating. Following the service, a gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the VFW Post 9582 in Vandalia, OH.
