William Anthony Forsythe, affectionately known to all as Buster, talked until his final breath on November 10, 2024, in Beavercreek, Ohio. Born in Dayton, Ohio, on January 22, 1957, Buster lived a life full of laughter, love, and a remarkable ability to know a little about a lot—rather having a Swiss Army knife of knowledge but often forgetting to take it out of the drawer.
Buster was a jack of all trades and master of none, a title he wore like a badge of honor. From fishing excursions that often resulted in more stories than fish, to collecting cars and watches, he managed to accumulate many debts along the way, too—because who can resist a deal on a refurbished flip-phone? He also had an undeniable passion for Ohio State football and the Bengals—frustration and joy alike pouring out of him during every game, whether they won or lost.
In his later years, Buster truly shone as the most innocent menace in any room—a phrase he would probably pronounce with the utmost pride. He was a man of many, many, many words and somehow found the knack to fill every single silence, up until the end. One might say his personal motto could have been, "Why say it once when you can say it twelve times?" And bless him for that! He certainly left a mark on everyone he met, concluding each interaction with a flair for the dramatic.
Buster’s legacy carries on through his loving children: Amberly Wrobel (Brian), Kristina Fries (TJ), Tylor Forsythe (Emily), and Stacey Jones; his siblings: Barb Stork, Mary Jo Harris, Robin Hutson (Wayne), Kim Etherington, and Sheila Pendleton (Roy); as well as a multitude of grandchildren: Breeanna, Taylor (Logan), Isaih, Quintin, Carter, Elias, Noah, Jonah, Eli, Ezra, and Esme. And let us not forget his great-grandchildren, those tiny bundles of joy: Mylo, Aycen, Leland, and Josiah.
Though we bid farewell to a character as vibrant as Buster, he joins his deceased family members with theatrical panache; his parents, James and Dorothy Etherington; his beloved daughter, Jennifer Forsythe; his brother, James "Jimbo" Etherington; and his nephew, C.J. Young. They surely welcomed him with open arms and immediately initiated a lively debate on the merits of flip-phones versus smartphones!
Friends and family are invited to celebrate this extraordinary life on November 22, 2024, with a visitation starting at 12:30 P.M. followed by a funeral service at 1:30 P.M. at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, Ohio. We promise that Buster wouldn’t want the day to be solemn; instead, he would insist that the laughter and stories be abundant! Let’s make sure that Buster’s many, many words live on in our hearts—and perhaps even rival his own. Rest in peace, Buster. Your memory will be cherished, your stories will be told, and your penchant for collecting debts, “kickin’ in doors & puttin’ ‘em in the ICU,” will forever be a source of amusement!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made towards Buster's services with Newcomer.
