William F. Stewart
Age 94, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Oak Creek Terrace. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Hoagland) Stewart, by his parents, James F. & Stella (Prugh) Stewart, his son-in-law Philip M. Hubbard, and a grandson, Shawn S. Hubbard. He is survived by his daughter, Doris Jean Hubbard. Also surviving him are his grandchildren: Philip M Hubbard and wife Teri; Linda Hubbard Caine and husband Roger; Richard M. Franklin and wife Cindy Shen; and Matthew J. Hubbard and wife Amie. He also leaves five great grandchildren: Debbie and husband Aaron Fraley, Philip Hubbard, Susan Hubbard, Sean Franklin, and Maya Franklin, a new great-great-grandson, Garrett Fraley, and many other family and friends. Bill was a graduate of Steele HS (Dayton) in 1932, Depauw University (Greencastle Ind.) in 1936, and received a master's degree from Ohio State University in 1965. He was retired from Wright Patterson AFB where he worked over 30 years as an accountant/ management analyst. He and his wife Martha were longtime members of Grace UM Church. He belonged to Scottish Rite, the Trotwood Optimist Club (a founding member) and various professional associations. Their favorite place to travel was Florida each fall. His family wishes to thank Oak Creek Terrace and also Hospice of Dayton for their loving care of Dad.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory – South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, Ohio. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at Fairhaven Church, 637 East Whipp Road, Centerville, Ohio. Entombment will be at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery – Abbey Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or Habitat for Humanity or a charity of one's choice.
