Cooper, William Ottis, age 88, of Riverside, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. He was born January 18, 1919 in Algood, TN, the son of Vernon & May (Brewer) Cooper. He served in the Philippines in the US Army during WWII with the 181st Field Artillery Battalion. During his service he received a Good Conduct Medal, AP Service Ribbon, Four Bronze Stars, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He retired from Inland Manufacturing after 30 years of service and was a member of the GM Retirement Club. William loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and the outdoors. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sidell Elizabeth (Welch) Cooper and son-in-law Charlie Stankus. Survivors include his daughters Ottie Kay Stankus of Riverside & Ginger (Edward) Beier of Middletown; grandchildren, Charles Stankus & Becky Cornes, William (Julie) Stankus, Heather (Adam) Ross, & Ryan (Miki) Beier; great grandchildren, Samuel Ross, Jacob Ross, Kyle Beier, Lauren Beier, Samantha Beier; dear friends, Phyllis Witt & Jay; and loving sisters & brothers-in-law, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-3 PM at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday at Algood Cemetery in Algood, TN. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, the American Cancer Society, or the ALS Foundation.
