BUIRLEY, William Lee Sr. age 88 of Centerville passed away December 27, 2018 while in the care of Hospice of Dayton. Bill was born October 28, 1930 in Sidney, OH to the late William J. and Marjorie (Brandt) Buirley.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his step-mother, Amelia "Isabelle" Buirley; a brother, Thomas J. Buirley and brother-in-law, Donald Brandewie.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Jane, his five children, Kelly (Alex) Schooler, Leslie (Robert) Zengel, William Lee Jr. (Shannon) Buirley, Tracy (David) Martin, Doug Buirley; close friends, Mike (Sandy) Staten; his siblings, Jerry (Phyllis) Buirley, and Carol Brandewie and sister-in-law, Marilyn Buirley. He was also "Papaw" to nine grandchildren: Ben, Jake, Robbie, Tristan, Nik, Aidan, Sam, Max and Piper.
Bill was a veteran of the Korean War where he honorably served the United States Army as an MP. He worked for NCR for many years before retiring and then with 3 associates started his own business called Med Tech Products, where they developed encapsulated liquid crystal for detection of human breast neoplasia. Bill was a member of the Miami Valley Trail Riders Motorcycle Club but will always be remembered as a devoted family man, living life to the fullest and putting his family first.
Commonly called "Big Guy", Bill loved his motorcycles, motocross races, tennis, golf, bowling, competitive card games, and vacations on the lake with family and friends, and reunions out west with his siblings. He had a love for German Shepherds and enjoyed family pranks and life in general. If you had the opportunity to know Bill you didn't forget him, as he made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion that will live on through his children and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday Jan 6, 2019 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. A Celebration of Life Service immediately follow at 4:00 pm also at the funeral home.
