William “Bill” Greenwald Jr. AKA Papa, a beloved figure and cherished family man, passed away on February 4, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on July 25, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan. Bill's life was marked by his vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and a genuine love for those around him.
A fun-loving individual, Bill found joy not only in his interests but also in the time he spent with his family. He had a passion for working on his cars and enjoyed the great outdoors, sharing many memorable camping trips filled with laughter and bonding with loved ones. His devotion to his family was evident in everything he did, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Arlene Greenwald. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared experiences. Bill is also survived by his daughter, Gail (Jeffrey) Christenson, and his son, Tom (Patti) Greenwald. His legacy continues through the laughter and love of his grandchildren: Ashley (Drew) Larck, Heather Christenson, Rachel (Wes) Alexander, Lauren Christenson, Matthew Christenson, and Reagan Greenwald. Bill was proud of each of them and delighted in their achievements.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Greenwald, Sr. and Elizabeth Greenwald, whose love and guidance shaped him into the man he became.
As we remember Bill Greenwald Jr., we celebrate a life well-lived, full of adventure, humor, and an unwavering commitment to family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He was an active member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Southfield, MI until he moved to Dayton in 2023. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10am at Koinos Church, 722 Grant St, Troy, OH 45373.
