William "Bill" E. Hill Sr.

William (Bill) Edward Hill, 100, of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 19th, 2025. He was born February 18, 1925 in Relief, Morgan County, Kentucky, to the late Orlando Hill and Mary Jane (Ison) Hill. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife; Juanita Kathleen (Measel) Hill, his brothers, Richard and John Hill; his half-brother Donnie Ferguson, his half-sister Opal Johnson, his sisters Cloma Byrd, Ida Unger and Frieda Rittenhouse.

He enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII and served his country from September 20, 1943 to January 2, 1952. He was a Seaman First Class on the USS Buckingham just prior to leaving the USN.

When Bill returned to civilian life, he moved to Dayton, Ohio to seek employment. In 1953, he got a job at the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company (later the Chessie System). He worked his entire career with the railroad and retired in 1985 with 32 years of service.

After moving to Dayton, Bill met and eventually married the love of his life, Juanita (Measel) Hill, on December 5, 1954. He and Juanita enjoyed a loving and happy marriage until her passing on July 5th, 2022. Bill is survived by his son and daughter-in-law William & Johanna Hill; his son Mark Hill; and his son and daughter-in-law Christian & Kara Hill. Bill also leaves behind his sisters Ana Saul, Mabel Rich, Dorothea Wallbaum, and his brother Dan Hill (wife Cindy) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th, 2025 from 1:00pm-2:00pm  with a celebration of life beginning at 2:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home North Chapel located at 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. 

A private funeral will be held later at the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Tipp City, Ohio on 25A, where Bill will be reunited with his wife Juanita.
