BARRON, William P. 81 of Xenia, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Rosalie "Kitty" Barron; his parents, William Mathias & Ida E. (Whittaker) Barron; sisters Ora Mae Meece and Lucille Hayre; brothers Joe Barron, Hershel Barron, Raymond Barron, and Earl Barron. William is survived by his daughter, Linda Campbell of Xenia; his 3 sons, William P. Barron Jr. at home, Philip (Pam) Barron of Xenia, David (Betty Lou) Barron of Yellow Springs; 7 grandchildren Donald (Loretta) Barron of Paradox, Colorado; Jessica (Brandon) Hawkins of Seattle, Washington; Karen (Ryan) Gibbs of Xenia; Brant (Becca) Watson of Delphos, Ohio; Terri (Jarrett) Murray of Xenia; Paul (Ruth) Barron of Jamestown; Danny Barron of Yellow Springs; 7 great grandchildren Tricia Barron; Nicholle, Emma, and Micah Hawkins; and Amanda, Cortney, and Megan Murray; 1 sister, Thelma Minnich of Bakersfield, California; 2 brothers, Gene (Velma) Barron of Dothan, Alabama; and Beecher (Alberta) Barron of Franklin, Kentucky; numerous nieces, nephews, family & friends.
William was born on September 5, 1923, on his father's farm at Bobtown, in Pulaski County, Kentucky. He attended Bobtown schools before moving to Dayton, Ohio, just prior to WWII, where he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as a Ship's Cook Second Class aboard the escort carrier U.S.S. Tripoli CVE-63, in the North and South Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean. He was awarded the Navy Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, the American Theater Medal, the European Theater Medal, and the Asia-Pacific Theater Medal. After the war, he was employed as a Rubber Parts Press Operator at NCR in Dayton, until he retired in 1975. He was a long time member of the Old Timer's Club, the Dayton Chapter of Mended Hearts, and the UAW. He belonged to the First Baptist Church of Fairborn for over 50 years.
Family will receive visitors from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday evening, December 13, 2004, at Newcomer Farley Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd. Services will be held 10a.m. December 14, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery. William will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
