William Harrison Anderson

July 25, 1939 — December 10, 2022

William Harrison Anderson, age 83, departed this life on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at VA Hospice. A native of Thomaston, GA, he enjoyed playing golf after school and enjoyed his time as a caddy at a local country club. On January 13, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart Marie and from their union came two children. Later the same year he followed his passion for aviation and service and joined the US Air Force. He spent 21 plus years in active duty traveling to many places such as Vietnam, Korea, and the Philippines, retiring in 1977 as a Chief Master Sergeant. He went on to a civilian service career retiring in 2000.

Up until his illness, he was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Church serving the Usher Ministry as a Sr. Usher and later as an Usher Emeritus. He was also a member of Ruth Chapter #104, Order of the Eastern Star and Edward Dugger Jr. Military Lodge#123.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Georgia Mae Smith and Stepfather Henry Smith; brothers: Tony Anderson, Steve Smith; and niece: Andrea (Ladybird) Thompson. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving, devoted wife of 63 years, Marie L. Anderson; daughter, Teresa (Keith) Baker; son, Michael (Sheila) Anderson; granddaughter Lisa Anderson; grandson, Michael Lee Anderson; 1 Great Grandson, Khaden Anderson; sisters: Eloise Anderson, Berneece (Marco) Brown, and Carol (Jessie) Character; along with a host of many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 10:00am to 11:00am to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 1 Diamond Ave, Dayton. Funeral services will begin immediately following at 11:00am. William will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery.
