William A. Schreiber

November 9, 1948 — January 19, 2013

William A. Schreiber, age 64 of Enon, OH, passed away on January 19, 2013 in York, PA. He was born Nov. 9, 1948 in Peoria, IL to the late Julius J. Schreiber and Violet (Mitchell) Schreiber. William grew up in Illinois and attended Lutheran elementary school and public high school there. He attended Concordia Junior College at Milwaukee, WI and Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, IN. He received his Masters of Divinity Degree at St. Louis Seminary Seminex, St. Louis, MO and Chicago Seminary in Chicago, IL in 1975.
William was ordained on Aug. 10, 1975 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Junction City, KS where he served as a worker-priest spending part of his time working as a minister and part time as a gunsmith. He also drove wheat trucks and school buses. In following years he served as pastor of Zion Lutheran in Downs, KS; Christ Lutheran in St. Paul, NE; Immanuel Lutheran in Osmond, NE; Christ Lutheran in Oil City, PA; and was currently serving as the pastor of St. Matthew Lutheran in Huber Heights, OH.

William has served as a volunteer fireman and civil defense director in past communities where he has lived and was currently serving as Chaplain and on the Critical Incident Team of Mad River Township Fire Department in Enon, OH. He also enjoyed visiting children & grandchildren, fishing, woodworking, golf and gunsmithing.

William married Karen (Rissman) Schreiber at Immanuel Lutheran Church in DeKalb, IL on June 6, 1970. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, mother, 3 sisters – Bonita & George Ackron, Alice & Michael Fritch, Judith & John Lee; 3 sons - Joshua & Julie Schreiber of Fountain, MN; Jeb & Lisa Schreiber of Emigsville, PA; Jon Schreiber of Cumming, GA; 1 daughter - Jerusha & Eric Lorenz of Grand Island, NE; and 7 grandchildren – Joelie, Jessie, Ella, Mae, Jentrey, Dale & Ephra. William was preceded in death by his father, Julius Schreiber and one grandson, Jay Schreiber.
