Wilhelm "Willi" Ofzky, age 85, beloved husband, dad, and all-around great guy, of Huber Heights, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020. He was born December 2, 1934 in Ansbach, Germany to the late Karl and Maria Ofzky.
Willi and Frieda were married and moved to Ohio in 1957 from Ansbach, Germany. Shortly after their arrival, Willi was drafted in the U.S. Army and served for two years. Willi was an electrician, toolmaker, the ultimate fixer-upper, and Dayton Delphi (GM) retiree. He also served as a volunteer firefighter in Huber Heights in earlier years and carried his instructor rating for single engine planes.
Willi's passions were their horses and his beloved Patchy, flying his Piper Cherokee, fishing, and hunting in his younger years. However, his greatest passion was his family and he excelled as a father and a husband.
In addition to his parents, Wilhelm was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frieda in December 2019; his sister and brother.
Wilhelm will be deeply missed by his loving children, Barbara (Don Boyd) Ofzky and Robert (Lucretia) Ofzky; grandchildren; Dustin (Crystal) Ofzky, Alexander Ofzky-Boyd and Brandon Ofzky; great grandchildren, Lily and Ivy; and other special family members and friends including those in the U.S. and in Germany, especially brother-in-law, Rudi (Annalise) Wolzlein; Phyllis, Torrie, Elizabeth, John (Bridgette) Moseman; and fur grandbaby, Lola.
Special thanks to caregivers Susan, Carrie, Ashley, Hospice of Dayton, and the numerous angels for the care, kindness, devotion and peace of mind they provided Willi and his family during his last months.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
