Wilbur Roy "Wil" Schonsheck peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2020 at Hospice of Dayton in Ohio. Wil was born on January 19, 1927 in Taylor, Michigan to Luella Marie Sell Schonsheck and Walter August Schonsheck.
Wil has been a resident of Dayton for over 60 years, raising his family here with his beloved wife of 62 years, Helen Louise Schonsheck. After her passing, Wil married Amy Frances Crowe, and together they made their home in Centerville, Ohio for the past 10 years.
Wil's greatest joys in life centered around his family, his 7 children and their spouses, his 15 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. An accomplished singer, speaker, and lay minister, Wil was a mighty man of God and will be remembered by many around the world who were touched by his Spirit-filled life.
An astute businessman, Wil worked into his later years, representing Canada Life Assurance Co. for over 60 years, achieving the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table award along with decades of National Quality Award qualification. Wil left a legacy of helping many clients receive millions of dollars in insurance proceeds to help their families survive and thrive.
What gave him joy? His family, baseball, and talking about Jesus. An influential leader, Wil was instrumental in building Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kettering, Ohio, serving as president for 4 years and choir director and soloist for over 15 years. An active member of Full Gospel Business Men's Association, Wil was president for 2 years. In 1996, Wil and Helen founded Eldad Medad Ministries, Inc. and dedicated themselves to ministering to those in need and bolstering the faith of those seeking a closer walk with God. They ministered both at home and abroad, spreading God's love through word, prayer and song. Wil had a rich baritone voice and early in their ministry, recorded 2 very special CDs of hymns and contemporary Christian music, "I'm Amazed" and "Every Single Day." Wil was an avid Reds and Dayton Dragons fan, and loved playing baseball and squash in his younger years.
Wil was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen, his sweet daughter Stephanie Ann Paris, and his parents. He is survived by his siblings Doris Reik of Daytona Beach, FL, Arnold Schonsheck of Farmington Hills, MI, Laura Palyok of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Darold Schonsheck of New Smyrna Beach, FL. Wil is also survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Amy Frances Schonsheck, and his children, Robin Paris and husband Richard, Jonathan Schonsheck and wife Jan Coy, Bonnie Kitchen and husband Rodney, Bill Paris (beloved husband of daughter Stephanie), Christopher Schonsheck and wife Penny, Kimberly Afshin and husband Bobby, and Jeremy Schonsheck and wife Paulette.
Out of respect and protection for your health and ours, we will be holding a private viewing and burial with family only. A Celebration of Life memorial will be held in the future; look for updates here.
