BAILEY, Wilbur A.
Age 87 passed away peacefully August 9, 2009 to be forever with his beloved Peggy. He was born Christmas Day, 1921 in Glouster, OH, the only child of Christopher & Anna Bailey & was a graduate of Northridge High School. During WWII he proudly served in the US Navy sailing the Atlantic aboard Liberty Ships. He survived the sinking of several ships & completed his service having achieved the rank of E-3 Gunnery Specialist. Upon returning to Dayton & Civilian Life he married his high school sweetheart Peggy Ann Steima on October 4th, 1947. Wilbur worked for the Sheffield Corporation on Springfield St., which was later the Bendix Corporation. Wilbur was a 32nd degree Master Mason with the John W. Durst Lodge # 716 for more than 50 years. After retirement, he & Peggy traveled extensively with the WBCCI Airstream RV Club & he was a charter member of the Dayton Family Campers. He is survived by his son Bill, his wife Susan, & their son Chris whom Wilbur & Peggy devoted much of their time to Christopher who they loved & adored. Visitation will be held Thurs. Aug. 13 at 10AM with services to follow at 11AM at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton. Interment to follow at Dayton Memorial Park.
