Wesley Michael Plummer
We are so sad that this day has come - way, way too soon! Wesley Michael Plummer was born on September 2, 1952 in Tampa, FL and passed away November 15, 2024 at Christ Heart Hospital, in Cincinnati.
He moved to Dayton, Ohio when he was a toddler, where he became known by many and NEVER forgotten by most!
From the stories I have gathered he lived a wild childhood, he attended St. Helen Elementary and graduated from Walter E Stebbins High School in 1970. I don’t think I could begin to capture his story so I’m asking you to please share any stories you have about him! I know he liked to have a good time, he was a go getter, he wasn’t one to sit and wait, he woke up positive even if it was 4pm. Just like the sign on their door says “Choose Happy” I’m pretty sure this was his mantra!
Everyone can probably attest that crazy things did happen to him and around him. Wild, unbelievable things both simple and complex! Wes was indisputably FUN, Indisputably creative, indisputably smart and indisputably a man of many talents. Always, always hard working and looking for the next big thing! He could do anything he set his mind to do.
He knew a lot of people simply because he wanted to know them. I’m amazed at the number of life long friends he had- it was always such a cool thing to sit back and witness! You know who you are and you know how important you were to him! A lot of those friends hung out…throwing a frisbee, in the garage, in the barn, racing cars, at Van Slam, riding motorcycles, at swap meets, car shows, at the bon fire, watching a race, doing a burnout or just swinging by to relax and enjoy one or two. Or, more recently, just tooling around his property checking out the latest toy - never giving up on the next project and how to make it uniquely his! If he who has the most toys wins - he definitely won!
Even in a pile of weeds Wes could always find a four leaf clover - just a happy-go-lucky guy who could always find a way back up when things were down!
If you needed something or were down on your luck he was there - willing to help ya out! I am sure there are countless stories but just a week before he passed he put a complete strangers car on his lift and changed the brakes! That was him.
There is not enough room to fully describe the love story of Wes and Melissa (Missy). She can also find a four leaf clover anywhere! A long motorcycle ride and his pretty blue eyes was the beginning of their 23 years together! She was by his side for all these years sharing countless laughs, tears and much love. She was always touched when he would come home and surprise her with a flower or two that he had randomly snipped along the road (even stopping traffic sometimes!) - imagine his smile when he handed them to her! We are so grateful and thankful for the love and patience she gave him! She loved him and he loved her, without question!
He will be deeply missed by so many! His son Christopher Plummer (Marni) shares his passion for cars and the need for speed. He got that smart “knows everything about cars” gene from his Dad. Amy Roxann Gatewood (Dan) , his daughter, happily has his optimistic approach and creativity flowing through her (okay I kinda got his bossiness too- is that really a bad thing?). I also blessed him with 4 amazing grandchildren Riley, Remi, Reid, and Rori! Just like Chris and me, each of my children sat in the palm of his hand, extending his arm and as he balanced them. He was always balancing the babies! and, of course, they all loved all his big boy toys in the barn.
I will cherish every project he so willingly did for me! If I called he answered, every time! Again, what couldn’t he do?
His two bonus kids Jessica George (Deno) and Amanda Lawson (Jake) and grandchildren Brady, Eli, Ellie and little Dan were also a big part of his life! Surely you all have some silly, quirky, wtheck stories! When asked about Wes both girls agreed that he always stressed the importance of striving to do better and be better. They felt that Wes taught this by the example he set of hard work, being self-sufficient and having a can do attitude! He instilled a mindset -placing a high standard for themselves and others and encouraged them to set their bar higher. They also enjoy his love of being outside and the thrill of the wind on a motorcycle ride! Eli I’m glad you were there to get his pop and so much more! You were such a constant buddy to him! (Ka Kaw)
His sisters, Diana Bailey (Harold) and Claudia Rodgers-Ridgaurd and Uncle Jerry Wise, will miss his fun, silly self too! Tweety, don’t think we don’t know you were the one that tried to keep him in line - that very curvy line! Such great memories of Dad and the Gang at Christmas, at your house!
His nieces and nephews - Darren, Tracey, Ashely, Angela, Leon, and Theresa I’m sure you have or have heard the stories of what a fun guy your uncle was! Darren I’m glad he was influential in blowing up part of your backyard … and covering it up - haha!
He is preceded in death by his Mother Jean Bates, his brother, Frank Plummer and his niece Lisa.
Please join our family celebrating Wes, who did his best to be a good husband, father, brother, son, grandpa and last but not least a friend! We invite you all to celebrate Wes at his and Missy’s house, otherwise known as: “PlummersPlace”
Saturday December 14th 2024 at 4pm! Feel free to bring whatever you like to drink. Just take a seat around his big ol’ handmade fire pit, stuff your face, blast some Pink Floyd, raise a little hell and share some stories among friends of friends!
Thank you all for the love and support during this time! I know he is proud of his family and is watching our every move!
Riding right into heaven…reacquainted with friends and family! As Von Zipper/Wild Wild Wes/ Wes and my dad always said….Happy Harley Days!
