Sanford, Wesley C., age 84, of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Dayspring Nursing Home. He was born July 5, 1924 in Rainelle, West Virginia, the son of the late Matthew & Betty (Crookshanks) Sanford. Wesley served during WWII in both the US Army and Air Force. He retired from Burger Iron Co. after 41 years of service and was a Chief Union Steward. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Louella, Betty, Goldie, Mary, & Daisy; brothers, Gordon, Grady, Lewis, Clarence, & Cladie. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Velva M. Sanford; sons, Charles R. (Betty) Sanford of New Carlisle, Greg E. (Donna) Sanford of New Carlisle, and Terry D. Sanford of Xenia; grandchildren, Tina, Scott, Shelly, Lori, Randy, Cammie, Yvonne, Terry Jr., Cassie, Bradley Sanford and Josh and Robert; great grandchildren, Kyra, Brandon, Kaleb, Chayton, Zack, Chris, Jessica, Jacob, Carrie, Jason, Cailey; Braydon, Jenna, Andrew, Matthew, and Heather; sister, Zada Mae Crookshanks of Rainelle, West Virginia. Funeral services will be held at 12 PM on July 6, 2009 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio. Interment will follow at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10 AM until the time of services.
