Wendell Eugene Ledbetter

Wendell Eugene Ledbetter, age 88, of Fairborn, passed away on September 15, 2024. He was born in Fayette County, Illinois, on February 15, 1936, the son of the late Rogay R. Ledbetter and Edna L. Ledbetter. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jean Holmes Ledbetter; and his brother, Ivan Ledbetter. 

Wendell is survived by his beloved Wife, Mildred Ledbetter; children, Steven (Ruth) Ledbetter and Terry Ledbetter; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jemima, Sara, Lydia, Enoch and Gerrad; sister, Lois McNally; brother, George (Caroline) Ledbetter; step-children, Millie Elaine (Sam) Bakri and Charles (Janet) McKenzie; step-grandchildren, Martin (Reem), Timothy, Matthew and Nathaniel; many other loving family and friends. 

He served his country proudly by serving in the United States Air Force. Wendell retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and also Delta Airlines. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Masonic Lodge #777 of Huber Heights, where he was the Past Lodge Master, a Shriner and also a member of the York Scottish Rite for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering with a variety of projects and helping others with projects they may have. Wendell was a very hard worker, who had a very kind, quiet and patient personality. He never met a stranger and could talk with anyone on any number of subjects.

Visitation will be held from 3:00pm-4:00pm, on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, where a Celebration of his Life will begin at 4:00pm, with Masonic and Scottish Rite Services. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton.
