Herman, Wendell J., age 82, of Dayton, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born November 25, 1926 in Dayton, OH, the son of Wendell J. & Magdalena (Geier) Herman. Wendell served in the US Army Air Force during WWII and was a member of the American Legion in Vandalia and the Moose Lodge. He retired from General Motors after 40 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and had been a square dancer for 25 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Herman. Survivors include his wife, Mary Herman; son, Dennis (Sylvane) Herman of Ibiza, Spain; daughter, Susan (Ken) Kappeler of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren, Miguel, Krystal, Kinsey, & Shannon; brother, Richard Herman of Dayton; and numerous friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH, with Brother Wayne Monroe officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to services. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or the American Heart Association.
