Wayne Michael Johnson, age, 75 of Centerville, Ohio, peacefully passed away on October 12th, 2022 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born January 21, 1947 in Mahnomen, Minnesota to the late John K. and Irene M. (Rumreich) Johnson.
Wayne was an adventurous young man and he knew how to have fun. He graduated from Fairmont East High School in 1965. He began his career working in the shipyards in California. When he moved to Ohio, he took a job as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service. This is the career he would eventually retire from. Wayne loved the outdoors, camping at Ohio Power, canoeing, fishing, shooting archery and shooting black powder.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Johnson; his son, John Johnson; three brothers, Paul, Clyde, and David Johnson; and nephew, Paul Johnson.
Wayne is survived by his loving family, including his ex-wife and mother of his children, Jacklyn Poston (Lilburn); one daughter, Jill Klein (Kenton); one grandchild, Ashley Klein; one brother, Mark Johnson (Sandy); sisters-in-law, Linda and Patricia Johnson; and many other loving family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Symphony at Centerville, Southview Hospital ICU, and Hospice of Dayton for their wonderful care in his final months.
As an act of generosity, in 2010 Wayne arranged for his body to be donated upon his passing to Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, November 19th, 2022 from 2:00 to 3:00pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel. 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459. A Celebration of Life will follow beginning at 3:00pm.
