Runck, Wayne Alan, 68, of Dayton, Ohio passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014. He was born on August 4, 1945. Known as avid sports fan that enjoyed coaching both of his children in sports and the church softball team; he especially loved playing golf with his son and friends, watching his daughter's softball games, the Dayton Dragons and THE Ohio State Buckeyes. With a fondness for southern gospel music, he loved going to concerts with his wife and their church family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend; he was always there for those in need. He graduated from Meadowdale High School in 1963, Sinclair Community College with a degree in Computer Science, was a member of Happy Corner Church of the Brethren for 37 years, and was a United States Air Force Veteran. He worked for many years on Wright Patterson AFB as a computer analyst contractor until his retirement in 2010.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Garnetta Runck, of Dayton;
Survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Karen (Wisenor) Runck; son Christopher Runck, his wife Kristin, and their children Abigail and Jacob of West Chester; His daughter Kimberly (Runck) Shumard and her husband Zacory of Dayton; His sister Phyllis (Runck) Frow and her husband Robert of Kettering; his brother Charles Runck and his wife Debbie of Knoxville, TN; 11 nieces/nephews and 16 great-nieces/nephews.
Visitation will be held at Happy Corner Church of the Brethren in Clayton, Ohio on Saturday, April 5th from 9-11a.m., followed immediately a service and luncheon. Internment will be at the Dayton National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
