WESTFALL, Wanda L., age 89, was born on Leap Year Day February 29, 1924 and went Home on Good Friday, March 29, 2013 from heart failure. At age 89, if you would have met her you would not believe she was that age. Always young at heart (and luckily looked and dressed much younger). Wanda was a joy to anyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Wanda married Robert Eugene Westfall on August 31, 1946 when Bob returned from his service in the U.S. Army during WWII. On August 23, 1954 they celebrated the birth of their son, Ronald Eugene. He was the joy of her life. She and Bob were blessed again on August 4, 1957 with the birth of another son, Chris Edward. Unfortunately, Chris was called to heaven three days later.
Throughout Wanda's life she met many people who enjoyed her brilliant smile and personality.
She worked at Leland Electric during WWII, Elder Beerman (after staying home until Ron was in the fifth grade) and finally working in the dental field for 25 years. After her husband, Bob's passing on January 4, 1989, her son, Ron married Carla Elsea in June of that year. Wanda and Carla developed a beautiful and close relationship. Wanda was one of ten children. She was preceded in death by brother, Don and five sisters, Marie, Helen, Millie, Corrine, and Dody. Wanda is survived by her son, Ron and his wife, Carla; brothers, Nate England, Bobby (Joyce) England; sister, Norma Jean Beach, as well as many nieces and nephews, who loved her tremendously. Special thanks to Centerville/Washington Twp. EMS Squad 44, emergency departments at Miami Valley Hospital, Miami Valley South, Dr. Micky Denen, and Dr. Stephen Schreck.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the funeral home, with burial following at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle.
