Walter W. Sheppard
Age 80, of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at Grandview Hospital.

Walter was born December 24, 1925 in Putney, West Virginia to James Robert & Laura Kay (Murray) Sheppard. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Coovert.

Walter is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen C. (Johns) Sheppard; son, James Robert Sheppard & wife Mary of AZ; daughter, Judy Prouty & husband, Ron, of Vandalia; grandchildren, Paul T. Carr Jr. (Cindy) of Dayton, Tara Carr & fiance', Kevin Funkhouser of Vandalia, Jim Elliott, Joe Elliott, Jon Sheppard and Joshua Sheppard; brothers, Kiden (Charmae) Sheppard and Ralph Sheppard; his sisters, Virginia, Margie and Willa Mae; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Walter retired from General Motors with 22 years of service and he was a professional magician and magic builder. He enjoyed performing his act "The Magical Moments of Sheppard & Co." at school assemblies in the Tri-State area for 45 years. He was also a veteran of the U. S. Navy with four years of service. Walter made a difference in the lives of everyone who met him. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, North Dayton is in charge of arrangements.
