William W. "Bill" Spencer, age 81 of Kettering, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2015.
Bill graduated from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio and completed his graduate studies at Purdue University. Bill retired at age 62 from St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he worked as a Clinical Chemist and Director of the laboratory. He will be remembered for his many hours working full time as a volunteer with the homeless, low income and refugees providing financial counseling. He received numerous awards for his good works through St. Vincent de Paul (De Paul Center), Samaritan Homeless Clinic, Catholic Social Services, Knights of Columbus, and many other places.
Bill was a supportive, caring and involved husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Peg Spencer; children, Jim (Lisa) Spencer and Mary (Jon Watson) Spencer; grandchildren, Michael and Nick Spencer; sister, Dr. Carol Anne Rizvi and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home at 3940 Kettering Blvd. The funeral will be at St Albert the Great Catholic Church at 3033 Far Hills Ave on Wed. July 22 at 12 noon, followed with burial at Calvary Cemetery.
