Walter Ray Raines, 91, of Max Meadows, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023 at home surround by family.Walter was born in Max Meadows, Virginia on May 17, 1931 to the late Robert and Bessie Raines.
Walter was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He loved living life to the fullest and was a machinist by trade. Walter retired in 1993 from the US Civil Service in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lois Ann (nee: Taylor) Raines and his grandson, Ethan Q. Hardin.
He is survived by children, Cynthia (Wallace) Henry, Charlene Raines, Julie Sigmund and Jeffrey Jaynes; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery 8135 N. Dixie Drive Dayton, services will begin at 12:00 pm with Chaplain Ric Johnson officiating.
