Walter R. "Rex" Sexton, age 73 of Dayton, went home to be with Jesus on March 13, 2012. He was born September 30, 1938 in Norma, TN to the late Leonis and Lucille Sexton. In addition to his parents, Rex was preceded in death by his sister, Marsha Jones; and twin brothers: Arvin and Marvin Sexton.
Rex is survived by his loving wife of 53 wonderful years, Barbara Sexton; 6 children: Denise (Michael) Jennings, Pastor Chris (Trecia) Sexton, Eric (Tammy) Sexton, Jeanette Sexton-Britt, Anita (Bill) Protzman and Allen Sexton; 23 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Delmar (Wilma) Sexton, Estil Sexton, Larry (Nancy) Sexton, Dwaine (Yabi) Sexton, Roger (Carolyn) Sexton, Delores (Donald) Cook, Dennis (Joyce) Sexton and Cathy (Michael) Graham; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Rex was a child of the King and he loved the Lord. He was a great family man, a dedicated husband, wonderful father and loving grandfather and great grandfather. He was one of the most gentle and kind men that you could ever meet, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:30 pm on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday. Rex's son, Pastor Chris Sexton will officiate. Burial to follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens.
