He was born on August 12, 1922 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Charles F. and Blanche Mang. In addition to his parents, Walt was preceded in death by his siblings: Helen, Harold, Paul, and Charles. Helen, who was the oldest, helped raise him after the passing of his mother when Walt was 6 weeks old.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mildred Nadine and their three sons and their spouses: Walter Raymond and Alice Mang, James and Kris Mang, and Timothy and Jeanette Mang. He is also survived by his nephew, Paul Mang and niece, Phyllis. He also leaves behind his 6 grandchildren: Simone Edgell, Amanda Phlegar, Christopher Mang, Benjamin Mang, and Chad Mang; his great grandchildren: Nathan Edgell, Dalton Mang, and Harrison Phlegar as well as his extended family, caretakers, neighbors and friends.
Walter resided most of his life in Kettering, Ohio. As a young man he trained as a glazier and then installed windows in many of the buildings in downtown Dayton. He also trained and groomed horses, and was placed in the Civilian Conservation Corp in 1937 planting apple trees in the state of Washington. He was only briefly in the Navy and returned home to Dayton. He held several positions including a Trolley Bus Driver for the city of Dayton, Molers Dairy milkman, Bellhop at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Dayton, and also worked at many other places such as National Cash Register, and Duriron/Flowserve.
Papa enjoyed reminiscing about his younger years and enjoyed talking about all the places he liked to go including NCR Old River Park, Ohio Caverns, BB River Boat Princess Cruises, and Coney Island. He and Mildred Nadine have countless photos of their adventures. He enjoyed working in the yard and he also rode his bicycle in his later years. He enjoyed classic movies and several types of music. He was always smiling or telling jokes and was a kind, genuine man with a great soul. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Kettering, Ohio 45429 on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff O'Guin from Mt. Zion Church will provide prayers for the graveside service.
