Walter Lee Jones
Age 77, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010.
Walter was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Hester Lowe; his grandmother, Nancy Lowe; and by two brothers, Douglas & Lynn.
Walter is survived by his wife of the past 55 years, Anna Pearl Jones; two daughters, Eulondia & her husband, Gary Blakeman and Eurondia & her husband, Bill Barto; six grandchildren, Sabrina, Cheryl, Euvondia, Eulondia, Eusondia & Charles; three great grandchildren, Ava, Kellan & Trevianna; two brothers, William & Paul Jones; three sisters, Barbara Case, Nancy Dowling & Sharon Jones; and by his extended family & many good friends.
Walter was a member of and very active with Fairview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He retired from General Motors with 30 years of service. During the Korean Conflict, Walter served in the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of Brookville Lodge # 596 F & AM; O.E.S.; Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton and the Antioch Shrine.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday (1/8), at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Richard Donovan officiating. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Wayne Gentry who was Walter's care giver for the past five years.
The family suggests that contributions be made in memory of Walter to Gideon's International. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
