Walter D. "Bebop" Foster, a beloved figure known for his humor and quirky personality, passed away on August 18, 2024 in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 73. Born on October 2, 1950, in the charming town of Glen Alum, West Virginia, Bebop left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Pearl Foster; granddaughter, Dacia Martin; brothers Eric "Ricky" Foster and Goneathious "Skeet" Foster; sister, Albetta "Penny" Foster; and longtime girlfriend, Tina Anderson. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Bebop.
A proud father, Bebop's proudest accomplishments were his three daughters, Nikki Davis (Joe Maye), Moriah Foster (Adriel Owens), and Felicia Foster (Jeanine Whittaker). His love and dedication to his family were unwavering, and he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren Tenaya Davis, Leah Davis, Nyalah Charlton, Joe Rodgers, and Mikayla Rodgers, as well as his great-grandchildren Avery and Carlie. Every moment he shared with them was filled with joy and laughter, each memory a testament to the love that bound them together.
Bebop is also survived by his sister, Evelyn Robinson (Jackie), brothers, Jeff Foster (Margarette) and Tyrone "Dempie" Foster, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss his larger-than-life spirit.
Bebop dedicated many years to serving Montgomery County, where his wit and straightforward demeanor made a lasting impression on coworkers and community members alike. He was a man unafraid to speak his mind, often lightening the mood with a well-timed joke or a playful quirk that brought laughter to his surroundings.
Bebop held many interests that brought him joy, particularly fishing and watching his favorite teams, the Cleveland Browns and Michigan Wolverines. He loved bird watching, enjoyed reading, and often spent hours gazing up at the solar system, captivated by the wonders of the universe. These hobbies, paired with his vibrant personality, made each day a new adventure.
Walter D. "Bebop" Foster will be remembered not only for his contributions to the community and his unwavering love for his family but also for the laughter and joy he brought into the lives of everyone around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his loved ones, reminding us to cherish each moment and to appreciate the beauty of both family and friendship.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 5-6pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A funeral service will be begin at 6pm with Rev. Tasha Maye officiating.
