Volney Mercer
Volney E Mercer Sr. age 89 of Xenia, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2011.
He was born to Minnie and Dan Mercer on September 6th, 1921 in Scioto County. Volney also proudly served his country as WW II Veteran. Volney was married to his loving wife, Earldean Mercer, of 67 years on November 13, 1943 in Crestview, FL.
He is survived by his wife and four children; Carol Sue Belcher of Clifton, WV, Cindy and Butch Hawkins, Volney Jr. and Liza Mercer, and Carla and Billy Davis of Xenia, OH. Volney is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Craig, Daniel, Leona, LaNay, Hallie, Devan, Charity, Josh, Seth, Josh D, and J.R. 13 great grandchildren; Dakota, Tiffany, Cager, Chase, Errand, Jorja, A.J, Tanner, Andrew, Keyerra, LaNya, Trinity, and J.B.. He was so loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services will be held 10:00AM Thursday , January 20, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton Xenia Rd. Family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00AM prior to services at the funeral home.
Burial will follow services at Dayton National Cemetery.
