Vivian Maxine Swinehart Baird was born September 11, 1924 to Veda (Kaserman) and William L Swinehart in New Philadelphia, and died peacefully March 29, 2018 in Yellow Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, one sister, her husband Donald, her daughter Julia, and her best friend of many years, Pat Zakour. She is survived by her daughters Kathleen (Randy) and Janice (Ed), son Jeffrey (Sandy), numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her beloved Boston Terrier, Bella. Maxine was fiercely intelligent and hard-working. Born into poverty, she worked to put her brother through college, became an early computer programmer at Wright-Patt, worked in Iran until the overthrow of the Shah in 1979, and retired in Sun City Center, Florida. She was generous and loving, kept her wry sense of humor even when Alzheimer's took so much, and is deeply loved by her family. She will be missed.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the love and compassion shown during her last six years at Friends Care Community. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Alzheimer's Association or Friends Care Center. There will be no service, but a celebration of life will be held at a later time.
