STOECKEL (Fledderjohann), Virginia Marianne, age 88, of Kettering, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012. She was born March 20, 1923 in Linton, IN, the daughter of Rev. Adolph and Matilda (Meckstroth) Fledderjohann. On June 8, 1947 she married Bertram Stoeckel in New Knoxville, OH. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; sister, Letha Harig, as well as twin brothers, Gilbert and Milbert, who died in infancy. She is survived by 2 children, daughter, Krysten Stoeckel of Tucson, AZ and son, Ed (Heidi) Stoeckel of Englewood, CO; 2 granddaughters, Amanda and Lauren Stoeckel of Englewood, CO; sister, Roberta Tanzini of New Knoxville, and very dear friend, Phyllis Grace Johnson of Miamisburg, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated from New Knoxville High School in 1941, attended Bowling Green State University and graduated from Miami Valley School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She was employed for many years at Miami Valley and Kettering Hospitals. She was a cadet Army nurse during WWII at Crile Hospital in Cleveland. She was active in her Oak Creek Church and the Miami Valley Hospital Nurses Alumni Association. Virginia was a willing volunteer, always helping others, and loved her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Oak Creek United Church of Christ, 5280 Bigger Rd., Kettering. Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will take place at a later date at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
