Virginia M. Emmons, age 88 of Riverside, passed away at home on Sunday, April 20, 2014. She was born May 14, 1925 in Dayton to the late Ernest and Elsie Poffenberger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Emmons, Sr.; sons, Thomas H. Emmons, Jr. and Leroy Emmons; son-in-law, Larry Oldham and daughter-in-law, Opal Emmons.
She is survived by her loving partner of 42 years, Charles Edwards; children, Virginia Oldham, Shirley (Thomas) Day, JoAnn (Kenneth) Roberts, Richard (Thelma) Emmons, Cindy (Roy) Sturgill, Penny (Ken Henderson) Steele, Danny (Teresa) Emmons, Dixie (Joseph) Ernst, Stevie (Teresa) Emmons, Darlene (Martin Howell) Emmons; 33 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 14 great great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (G.B.) Salle and Dorrie Mae Lawhorn; numerous nieces, nephews, family, friends and special neighbors.
Virginia loved to play bingo and cards. You could always catch her at a yard sale when she wasn't having her own.
Family will receive friends from 5-9 PM on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. There will be no formal funeral service as were Virginia's wishes.
