April 4, 1929 — November 5, 2018

Virgil Libero Gelormino, age 89, of Dayton, passed away peacefully into God's Holy embrace on Monday, November 5, 2018. Virgil was born on April 4, 1929 in Cambridge, Ohio to the late Leonardo and Mary Gelormino. He was a devout Catholic and a long time member of Our Lady of Mercy and attended Holy Family Church with his daughter. Virgil devoted his life to cultivating young minds and instilling a passion for learning in the hearts of his students. After his career as a Spanish teacher for Dayton Public Schools, Virgil retired in the early 1970s. He also worked as a insurance agent for Prudential.

Virgil had a passion and love for music, poetry, and his Catholic Faith. He belonged to the Dayton Opera Chorus and played the tuba in the Kettering Civic Band, Centerville Community Band, and Sinclair Concert Band. Virgil was a skilled harmonica and guitar player and was able to play any tune he heard.

Virgil was a compassionate, loving, and caring man. He took great pride in his family. He was an amazing and inspiring father, grandfather, teacher, and friend. Virgil will be greatly missed, but his impact will be fondly remembered and never forgotten by all whose lives he touched.

In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Annamarie Hess, and his four siblings.
