Virgil Dean Menke
Age 78, of Huber Heights, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2007, after a brief illness.
Virgil was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Elfriede, in 1989.
He is survived by two daughters, Gretchen Menke and Virginia & her husband, James O'Neill and their children, Kathleen, Michael & Jennifer; one sister, Jerie & her husband, Bernard Earick and by his four nephews and three nieces.
He graduated from Bath High School (now Fairborn H. S.) class of '48 and from Miami-Jacobs Business College. He served in the U. S. Army and retired from Kroger with 40 years of service. He continued to enjoy the many friends that he made with Kroger Retirees. Virgil loved square-dancing and was a member of the Miami Valley Square Dance Council. He enjoyed traveling with the Friendship Force.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Tuesday, at the funeral home with interment to follow at Willow View Cemetery.
