PARDOS, Virgenmina B., age 83 , passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2007. She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Rosa Ramirez; first husband, Louis E. McAfee; brothers, William and Efrian Bove, and sister, Nevis Bove. Virgenmina is survived by her husband of 43 years, Elias Pardos; son, Lou McAfee and wife, Cyndi Bellerose-McAfee; grandchildren, Francis Connelly, Parker, Paige, and Jackson Bellerose; nephews, William and Efrian, Jr.; nieces, Nebis, Virginia, and Maria; adopted family from the Hispanic Catholic Ministry, Antonio and Nelly Crespo, and children, Christina, Javier, Daniel Crespo. Virgenmina helped found the Hispanic Catholic Ministry over 17 years ago, with less than 20 members at the time, which now has over 500 members. She started as a Hispanic singer in the church, which later spurred the formation of the Hispanic Choir. She was a Director of Nursing in Puerto Rico before coming to Dayton, OH and working at the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and also finishing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at University of Dayton in 1960. She was a Director of Nursing Education at the Dayton Mental Health Center and retired from there in 1980. Virgenmina performed with a traveling singing group of the Cultural Puerto Rican Society called the Rondalla. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 140 S. Findlay St., Dayton. Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm Friday, September 28, 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering.
