Violet I. (Cowgill) McCane, age 93, of Dayton, passed away on June 3, 2019 at Walnut Creek Assisted Living. Violet was born on November 28, 1925. She was the daughter of Walter and Alma (Hunt) Cowgill. Violet would later marry Snowden Bruce McCane who preceded her in death.
Along with raising her family, during her working career Violet was employed at Baxter Laboratory. She was a member of the Miamisburg Assembly of God Church.
Violet is survived by her loving sons, Jay A. Buckingham of Bellbrook, OH, Charles W. (Rosemary) Buckingham of New Paris, OH and Keith B. Buckingham of Dayton, OH; Granddaughters, Kelly (Brian) Willey, Crystal Buckingham, Misty Buckingham and Sarah McClellan; grandsons, Michael Buckingham, Nicholas Buckingham and Charles (Stephanie) Buckingham. Violet also leaves a family legacy of 11 beautiful great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Violet was also blessed to have the treasure of friendship with her dear friend, Marlene Mead.
Along with her parents and husband, Violet was preceded in death by her son, Richard W. Buckingham.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, 45459 from 9:30am to 11:00am. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00am with Pastor John Swint officiating. Burial will be conducted in the Fairmount Cemetery in Camden, Ohio.
Violet's family would like to thank her caregivers from Hospice of Dayton for their compassionate care and oversight. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton.
